Ok so I installed the "Unofficial Patch" (the newest one available)
and then I put the JKE files into the correct folders. Now whenever I start any single or multi player game I get an Error message that says Error: Can't read level.
I've tried adding the episode folder to the JKE batch path but that makes it the same as without the patch. Hope someone can help me soon =)

I've also reinstalled it 3 times the second time I reinstalled it, I got the annoying Invalid win32 application, but I fixed that. and I can load any level without JKE installed but with it I get the lovely rainbow multi player characters and I can't start a new game load a new game or host a multi player game. But everything works fine without it. (Just clearing that up because it seems obvious people are going to ask me these questions.)

=P I figured out 1 way to run it with JKE =P Just rename Res2.gob to Res2.bak then rename JKE.gob to Res2.gob =P Although I've found an annoying glitch on some of the levels for example on the first level near the beginning when you go on the secret elevator it appears invisible =P also on Multiplayer Outside the Jedi Valley on the tower map this happens almost everywhere.

That's becouse Shred didn't remake all 3dos such as elevators and crates. If you rename res2.gob jk will not find them.

Yes I realized that, thats why I instead extracted every single file from the Res2.gob JKE.gob and put them all in a combined folder. and it still continued but everything else worked just fine. So the problem I do believe isn't that the file is missing. If anything JK isn't reading it but thanks for trying to help. Oh and great work Shred =P.

Oh and Zwier Zak I don't believe Shred remade all the models unless he created the models for Jedi Knight II Outcast.

The JO models are totally different. The materials just resemble each other since Shred used JO's kyle as reference (I think)

It sounds like the patch is not being applied.
Make sure your JK.EXE is not read-only before applying the patch. (right click it, go to properties)

Wow you made that about a hundred times harder than it needed to be. Just put JKE.gob in the Resource folder with Res2.gob and it should work just fine. If it doesn't, something else is amiss such as JKUP not being properly installed.

That isn't entirely accurate, JK won't necessarily load JKE and Res2 in the correct order for that to work.

Using the -path commandline switch for JK is going to be the most reliable way to get JKE to work, and is the standard for using most mods. I'm unsure how Tenjin's having trouble... it sounded to me like they just weren't getting JKE.gob to load but did successfully patch the JK executable.

Regardless, to use JKE:
1) Apply the JK Unofficial Patch to JK.exe.
2) Put JKE.gob in a subfolder of your Jedi Knight folder, named, say, JKE.
3) Run "JK.exe -path JKE"

As far as I recall, th easiest way to check if the JK Unofficial Patch is applied is to pull out the JKE Stormtrooper Rifle (weapon 3) and see if its textures look correct; if they're obviously messed up looking, patching failed.

I extracted JKE to my resource folder, so I've got Resource\3do, Resource\mat, ect ect. Since it's just model replacements, it works with certian mods and whatnot. Also ensures JK loads it first before res2.gob.

For those who suggested things I appreciate it but I already tried all of them before you suggested it. I checked to make every file in my JK folder wasn't read only Nothing was. Then I tried putting JKE.gob in my Resources folder and that also gave me the Error Can't Read Level message. I also tried changing the paths around and putting JKE.gob in a subfolder I tried about 40 or 50 things and had to reinstall JK 8 or 9 times. The only thing I found that worked was extracting all of JKE.gob into its own folders along with Res2.gob So thank you for your time but believe me I didn't make it any harder then it was. And I'm not entirely sure why you guys are telling me what to do after I said I got it too run =P But Thanks all and I was wrong the JO models and these new models look a bit different but not a lot =P

I've never had a problem with it... ¬.¬

Unlike what would make sense to us humans like, say, loading GOB files alphabetically or based on date, JK loads them in the order they exist in the file system. This also dictates the order JK's levels are listed in the single and multiplayer level select menus. There are ways to make sure the files end up in a certain order, but in a normal situation, old files will take precedence over new files.

What ends up happening though, is if files are deleted somewhere on the same hard drive and then new GOB files end up occupying that space, and that space happens to precede the space occupied by some other GOB files, they will take precedence over those other, ''older'' GOB files loaded from the same location.
