Although I think this entire thing is stupid, because people have been using the same opening crawl music for God knows how long (12 years).

I'd usually agree. I don't think the LEC legal department will really care what we're doing here (though, you never know). However, this time it's not about LEC.
People put quite some money into a contest here. A contest they are judging themselves. I just don't want people to start disqualifying solid levels because someone used copyrighted content carelessly.
I know I wouldn't want that to happen to my work, nor do I want that to happen to anyone else's. For that reason I think it's important to raise awareness.
But maybe that's just me expecting the worst in people...

I half agree. I mean, taking textures from another game I'd say was wrong. But a 25 second audio clip?

If someone was such a jackass to say "Hey, Elmo's level was good but he should be disqualified for using his own Star Wars crawl music" then ... well, I'd like to think that person wouldn't exist, and that wouldn't be said.

I want to have a book with a cover of one of my favourite novels on it. However now I'm paranoid my entire episode may get disqualified because someone will post about it, so I won't. It's really frustrating. Where's the line?

Before, the line went world wide across YouTube. Now, after a protest or so, it's "only" across Germany. Still have two vids with Star Wars music that are blocked in Germany.
